The Backyard

Dear insansapinas,

Our old house in Quezon City has a big backyard. It used to be green with crawling vegetables such as upo, squash and ampalaya.

The old mango tree is still there leaning towards the house after the Ondoy typhoon.
The new trees are the calamansi and the kamias.

This is the old well. It never dried up. When the house was not yet an empty nest, this used to be where the water for laundry came from.

Now with the Maynilad (?) and the washing machine, it looks abandoned.

we have a backyard garden too. nagtatanim nanay ko ng kung ano anong gulay. sa isang maliit, about 5x5 na lupa, nagtanim sya ng baguio beans, sitaw, sigarilyas, patola, ampalaya, at kalabasa. nagtataka lang ako kung bakit sa mga baryo kung saan malaki ang lupa na pwedeng pagtaniman, di nagtatanim ang mga tao ng mga gulay. kamote at kamoteng kahoy, oo. pero yung kmatis, talong ampalaya, bihira sila magtanim. madali namang patubuin yun. at kapag namunga na, ang laking tipid nila sa pamamalengke
