Hindi Mabubuhay ng Walang Lalaki

Dear insansapinas,

Full of love daw kasi siya.

Mukha siyang bumabata.

Bakit nagtsismis na naman ako. Kasi may research na ginawa tungkol sa cohabitation.
Cohabiting is an emerging threat to the health of children and society, two new research reports say.In the latter half of the 20th century, “divorce posed the biggest threat to marriage in the United States,” sociology professor W. Bradford Wilcoxand 17 other scholars said in a report released this week by the Institute for American Values’ Center for Marriage and Families and the National Marriage Project at the University of Virginia.
That is no longer the case, they said.
“Today, the rise of cohabiting households with children is the largest unrecognized threat to the quality and stability of children’s family lives,”

Survey says, Betty White, Most Trusted; Paris Hilton, most unpopular

Dear insansapinas,
Estelle Getty, Bea Ssthur, Rue McClanahan and Betty White

While Paris Hilton has just been treated by celebrity-struck Filipinos like a goddess, the  survey conducted by Reuters and Ipsos ranked her first as the most "unpopular" and least trusted endorser of products together with Charlie Sheen, the Two and a Half Men star who was kicked out from the sitcom.

Betty White, the only surviving cast member of the Golden Girls is number one. Although she is alread 89 years old, she beat Sandra Bullock who placed number three in the poll.

Among the most unpopular, are Tiger Woods who lost product endorsements because of the sex scandal, Donald Trump, for being annoying person, Arnold Schars (whatever) who fathered a son with a housekeeper and Britney Spears.

Blind Items na nakacell phone

 Dear insansapinas,

Study shows that less  than 15 percent of Americans admitted to something that probably every mobile phone owner has probably done at one time or another -- use the device to avoid unwanted personal interactions.

O di va Virginia, buking sila. MATARAY.

A good son or conflict of interest? Tseh,

Hellooooooo.

The Impact of Divorce on the Taxpayers

Dear insansapinas,

I am divorced. That's the truth Virginia. But it did not cost the government a single cent.

The wisest mind has something yet to learn.

 Dear insansapinas,

A headline in one of the broadsheets says:

A balikbayan from New Jersey

warns versus muggers in the Philippines.

The Philippines has a lot of work to do before it becomes a staple in the tourist track," he added.

Verzosa, 25, was mugged in Makati City during his vacation in the Philippines, days before he was to take a flight back to the United States.

He had left a high-paying Manhattan job as senior auditor at one of the Big Four accounting firms to travel in Southeast Asia for six months “to see the world and enjoy life."

New York City

In her official Twitter account, Wilson said it was shameful that the President does not have better things to do than to meet with the famed celebutante and reality TV actress.
"Why is PNOY taking time out of his 'busy' schedule to meet with Paris Hilton tomorrow? So shameful that he doesn't have better things to do," Wilson tweeted.

Paris Hilton banned in Japan
The heiress cancelled her Asia tour to promote her fashion and fragrance lines and boarded a private jet back to Los Angeles after being denied entry at Tokyo's airport Wednesday following her drug violation in the U.S., the Associated Press reports.
Paris Hilton detained in Souch Africa for marijuana possession
Hilton's publicist, in a statement to CNN, said the incident "was a complete misunderstanding, and it was actually another person in the group who did it."
Ows?

A few years ago, she was made to serve a jail sentence in Los Angeles for violaton of her terms of probation for DUI case.

Kailangan bang i-meet and greet ng Presidente? Bakeet?
Note: Valte denied that the President is meeting her
Nawala yong news.

Here are some of her brainy quotes:

There's nobody in the world like me. I think every decade has an iconic blonde, like Marilyn Monroe or 1.Princess Diana and, right now, I'm that icon.
Paris Hilton

2.This is Earth. Isn't it hot?

3. Wal-mart... do they like make walls there?

Foods Full of Cholesterol

Dear insansapinas,

 photocredit
No Virginia, it is not only the lechon and the adobo that will give you cholesterol; even the seafood which you think does not contribute to your "bilbil".is also full of cholesterol.

These are the foods to be avoided so you will not be taking Lipitor for your breakfast.

7. Butter- kinakain ko na lang yong Oui. The butter that tastes like butter but it is not butter. LIAR.

8. Shrimp  low in fat but high in cholesterol. Dami pa naman kaming shrimp sa freezer. Maliliit naman.

9. Bacon- Misan lang in a blue moon kami kumain ng bacon at turkey pa. Hindi siya baboy. Kunwari lang.

10. Fastfood- Paminsan-minsan lang ako kumain ng burger. Hindi ako kumakain ng donit. Sabi nga DO NOT EAT.

Haynaku ano na lag kaya ang kakainin? Kahit daw okra mataas din ang cholesterol. Paborito ko rin. Makakain na nga. Ginataang halo halo. BURP.

Kahit saang gubat, may puno na may tuko o ahas

Dear insansapinas,

picture taken by my brother

Some 20 "gladiators" or "centurions" have been arrested outside some of Rome's most famous tourist sites, in an undercover sting by police aimed at breaking up a violent racket targeting tourists, according to reports. The Guardian said other allegations against the gladiators including claims they demanded more than $40 to pose for a picture. "One ruse" was to offer to take a photograph of a tourist with their camera, then refuse to return it unless money was paid.
Healthcare and Medicare Scam

My friend's mother would like to retire. She is already 68 but is still supporting her daughter and granddaughter. If she retires, the pension will not be enough for the three of them.
My older brother would like to get an early retirement. He is not retireable yet but the rumors that the funds for SSS and Medicare are running out makes him think of retiring.  He's afraid that there will be not enough money for the future retirees.

US has already a problem with its debt and the healthcare scams bleed the fund dry too. The fraudulent transactions  are in millions. Many wre convicted and a lot of them are Filipnios. One of those convicted. a Filipino, and an employee of Sunrise Nursing Registry escaped and went back to the Philippines. Nakakahiya.
Senior citizens who are sick and or not capable of taking care of themselves can avail of the Medicare paid services of  caregivers. The scam is that the registry signed in seniors whom they pay $ 100 to 200 dollars in exchange of their claims for Medicare payments. The money goes to the registry.

Temper, temper,temper

Dear insansapinas,

photocredit
I hate it when I lost my cool.

When I was a department head, I was very careful not to hurt my subordinates' feelings. Hindi ako  "The Devil Wears Prada" kind of leader. I adopted the carrot or carrot instead of carrot or stick policy of rewarding  people. Galing ng pasakalye.

WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
. So? taas ninyo ang  inyong kilay. Kasi ayaw kong nagagalit.

Three months ago, may reseta ako sa doctor. One tablet per day, good for ninety days. Before 60 days were over, muli akong bumisita sa doctor  at nireklamo ko na para ring  walang effect. Sabi niya, tingnan nating pag doble ang dosage. You come back after a month.

Hige.

Aug 2, nagrefill ako. Old dosage pa rin.

Minsan-minsan man lang akong magalit at nanginginig ako.

Hotels

Dear insansapinas,
When we were kids and visited our cousins in the barrio we played " bahay-bahayan. The older 'sins gathered corn stalks, slabs and banana leaves leaves and built us a hovel like in the photo below.

photocredit: all that'sinteresting

The photo however is not for kids but for adults. It is a hotel in the forest.  The description says:  The huts are located in a glade beside the Lake Skärsjön, and espouse a simple, primitive form of living, with candle-lit rooms, shared outhouses, lake or creek as your option for bathing, crackling fire, and the sight, smell and sounds of the forest to entertain you. Food is also self-catered,
Meron silang outhouses. Di kailangang gumamit ng siit at dahon. bwahaha

It reminds me also of my camping days but the huts were made from canvas. We slept on the grounds except for improvised bed out of bamboo slats.Ayunm nagkasakit karamihan.

The Day ako ay naging ISTATWA

Sirenomelia-Ano raw?

Dear insansapinas,

When my mother was still alive, our breakfasts during weekends  lasted for more than two hours because she had a lot of stories to tell. I called them breakfast  instead of bedroom stories. But before I tell you one story which was unbelievable but she swore was true is about a sireno or a merman  let us read this news about a baby who was born with mermaid or sirenomelia syndrome.

photocredit: abscbn

Jane Sariba, 18, said she gave birth last July 31 inside their house in Barangay Matuog-tuog.She said she was surprised that her baby was born with fused legs, like a mermaid.
Sariba said that during her pregnancy, she was an avid watcher of a TV soap opera that had a young mermaid as the lead character. She said she brought the baby to a hospital after the delivery but the baby died along the way.A neonatologist said the baby had sirenomelia, also known as mermaid syndrome, which is a very rare congenital deformity in which the legs are fused together, giving them the appearance of a mermaid's tail.

This happened in Mercedes, Camarines Norte, a fish port where the means of sale transaction is thru whispers. Bulungan, baga.

Hindi lang kalahati, doble pa

Dear insansapinas,
Totoo kaya ito?

By the way, I learned that the senators have quietly doubled their own salaries from P80,000 a month to P150,000 a month. Pimentel is coming in just in time for that bonanza. Zubiri is leaving without having tasted it.I presume that the congressmen secretly did the same thing. The taxpayers’ pockets have been picked again.

Art, Souvenirs and Thrash

Dear insansapinas,

picture taken by my brother

I said that I do not want to write about that thrashy collage they call Art which was exhibited in CCP. I was not the only one offended, There were so many petitions  for the closure of the exhibit that came via e-mails and other forms of communication.
CCP finally succumbed to pressure NOT because of the clamor of the senators and  the various groups but I think it is more of the threat that its funding will be reduced? CCP is funded by the taxpayers' money  money and the taxpayers have the right to question where the money is going. Here is an exceprt of the news:
The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) closed down on Tuesday the main gallery where the controversial "Kulo" art exhibit is on display. In a statement, the CCP said threats to persons and property influenced the management's decision to close down the gallery. One of the artworks displayed in the gallery — artist Mideo Cruz's piece, a mixed-media collage called "Poleteismo" — was criticized as "blasphemous" and then vandalized last week.
Freedom of expression, ito paa ko, (my foot). In a related news:
In Pisa, the vendors of souvenirs receive stiff fines for selling erotic souvenirs associated with their Leaning Tower of Pisa, Michaelangelo and David. The mayor declared that "'Some of the so called novelty souvenir items that can be found on these stalls are verging on the pornographic and this is not the image of the city of Pisa we want to cultivate.

We're talking about aprons depicting Michelangelo's nude statue of David and more.
According to Britain's Daily Mail, Pisa, Italy mayor Marco Filippeschi is supporting fines of up to $700 for owners of stalls around the Leaning Tower of Pisa that sell souvenirs including the tower in phallic poses.

Adidas, Coca Cola and Starbucks

Dear insansapinas.
Naaaah, Virginia, I am not talking about the delicious chicken feet we call Adidas. Yon nga ba yon ?

I am talking about the shoes and other brands and how they got their names. Forwarded to me by my brother. You ever wonder, why your favorite soda is called Coca Cola?

There are fifty of them, I selected only a few which  names  are familiar in the Philippines.

1. Coca Cola - it is named after cocal leaves and kola nuts for flavoring.
2. 7-11 - it was named from its hours of operation 7 am to 11 pm
3. Adidas- form the name of the owner Adolf Adi Dassler. His brother also produced shoes called Puma.
4. Starbucks -named after a character in the movie, Moby Dick
5. Adobe- named after Adobe Creek which run  behind the house of the co- founder John Warnock
6. Bridgestone- named after the translation of the name of the owner Shojiro Ishibash- bridge of stone.
7. Sony- it is not a name of a lady, it refers to sonus meaning sound
8, Sharp- named after the company's first product- pencil.
9. Pepsi- named after pepsin
10. Mattel- the maker of Barbie Dolls was named after its owners, Harold "Matt"  Matson and Elliot Handler

I worked with H & R Block and I never knew where the name originated. It was founded by Henry W. and Richard Bloch. They changed Bloch to Block.

The Tale of Two Wives- The Day I became a Tupperware

Dear insansapinas,

I answered the phone call. It was a friend. She said that she would like to know how I am. My thought balloon said otherwise. What does she need this time? Oh, I know it. Favor. She's the type of who would  call only to vent, to assassinate someone's character or to ask for prayers, not necessarily in that order. The last one was either a compliment to me that I have a direct line to the Big Boss (she asked me to pray for her so she will get pregnant, she asked me to pray for approval of her applications to almost anything) Or she believes that I am a witch. HA HA HA.

It is about her sister-in-law who changed her mind or if ever, she would come from the Philippines, (she was petitioned by her brother who got laid off recently) she said that she does not like to live with them--the in-laws.

She vented and I listened and she asked me if I can pray so that she could change her mind--that she agrees to live with the relatives.

I declined. First, I said that if ever there is someone who should pray so she would agree to live with them, it is her brother. Secondly, I turned into a big Tupperware, I said she must be ashamed to be living with them since the brother is already married. What I would like to say was, she must be scared to live with them because the brother must have told her how he was treated since he came from the Philippines and could not find another place to stay because  rent is above his paycheck.

I myself stayed in her place for a few days while waiting for my flight and she was ready to accept my payment until the husband said no. All the time, her brows were kintted like a chain stitch that would make you uncomfortable during your stay.

Wife number 2

Wife number 2 is the wife of my friend who went home to the Philippines to seek a wife. I sent him to St. Jude, the patron saint of the desperate cases.

He's lucky, she's a professional, she got her own business and the family is my kababayan. Just like my grandparents and relatives, they have also fishpond where they get the big fish, crabs, prawns and lobsters that they sent to the daughter in Manila where she holds office. Maraming sili at gata. heeheehe. He was already introduced to the Bicol cuisine which includes dinuguan na may gata na may raw langka o ugob, ginataang santol at ginataang baklang alimango na walang panlaban ang King crab dito sa laki ng mga laman.

My friend just arrived from the Philippines this week. He called me to consult about his petition to his wife para madala na dito. Our friend, the immigration lawyer could not be contacted so pinagtiyagaan niya ako sa pag-fill up ng form. Mahigpit kasi dito. Pag nagkamali ka, ang tagal ng process.

During the conversation, I asked my friend if he told his wife what to expect here in the US where she will have no alalay, does not know how to go to market because her parents provided her with rice down to the salt produced from the ocean. Besides they will stay with his mother.

Sabi niya, she's been here in the States when she visited her brother and she also took a vacation in Canada.

I almost told him, iba pag nagbabakasyon ka lang ay iba kung nakatira ka na permanently.

I do not know much about his mother except  that she was the one who petitioned my friend. She has also lots of properties in the Philippines. She helped in his wedding na ginawa ang reception sa Ayala Alabang. Sushal.

First meeting namin dito sa States  ay noong nagtampo siya sa kaibigan ko ang his sister. Probably menopausal yon. SHE BOUGHT A BMW and naglayas.

When I asked my friend why, he just rolled his eyes. So we looked for her. She could not drive the BMW, mabilis daw.

My friend has his own sports car kaya ipinagbili ang BMW after a few days na nagkapeace na sila at depreciated value.

Thank You and Good bye Dr. Fe del Mundo

Dear insansapinas,

Dr. Fe del Mundo, the Grand Dame of Philippine Pediatrics, passed away after suffering a heart attack at 5 a.m. Saturday.
No, I do not know her personally, Virginia except that she was the pediatricuan who was able to diagnose
what was wrong with my boy Tsikiting Gubat. Yes, he is the same boy of mine who was hospitalized when he was just seven days old
because someone fron the nursery  did not bother to sterilize all the feeding bottles--an incompetence or laziness  that sent all the newborns during the period back to the hospital because of infection .

My boy  survived the 24 critical hours. Thanks to prayers. But several weeks after I brought him home from the hospital,  I sensed that my TG had difficulty peeing.

I brought him to different doctors and  hospitals, PGH included and the only diagnosis was that he got an infection. And why I was crying ? asked one doctor. Natural lang daw yon. Antibiotics were prescribed. The swelling and the redness would disappear but he still had  difficulty urinating that he would cry.

Mother's instinct, no matter how young you are would tell you that it was not an ordinary phase for an infant to go through. So I brought him to another doctor/pediatrician. I did not know who she was until my friend told me that she was Dr. Fe del Mundo. She recommended an inmmediate  one day surgery.

She was already old at that time and I kept wondering  if she were still alive until I read the news about her death. She never married and died at age 99. A life well-lived.

Apologies, Baha, Blooper

Christopher Lao a victim of 'social media excess'

Multo sa UAE

Dear insansapinas,

photocredit: new covenant

Aincubus (nominal form constructed from the Latin verb, incubo, incubare, or "to lie upon") is a demon in male form who, according to a number of mythological and legendary traditions, lies upon sleepers, especially women, in order to have intercourse with them. Its female counterpart is the succubus. An incubus may pursue sexual relations with a woman  generally during the night when the victim is sleeping.
Tanong niya, PROTECTION?

Sacrilegious Art is an ART Not

Dear insansapinas,

I, myself have been a beneficiary of miracles based on my faith and no artist can persuade me to appreciate a trash art.

I've read about the CCP "penis and condom art" weeks ago. I did not bother to comment to avoid more publicity of these art pieces which are deemed sacrilegious by Christians particularly the Catholics.

I know that it is one way of promoting the exhibit--to create controversy. I also believe that the reason the artist is into this form of art is to create a niche in the art world so that he may  be
recognized from a dozen a dime starving artists churning art pieces which they can hardly sell.

According to what I read, this is the artist's  way of expressing his  reaction on Catholic's worship of idols. This is an ignorance of the Catholic belief and a violation of human right--to practice one's own belief.  We do not worship idols; we venerate them. Are kissing and talking to the picture of a loved one, a kind of worship especially when you miss them ?

What parents or children would like the pictures of their loved ones desecrated?

Freedom of expression? My foot. Cussing someone in public is not a freedom of expression. Desecrating someone's belief is not a freedom of expression.

Freedom of religion is a principle that supports the freedom of an individual or community, in public or private, to manifest religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship, and observance.

According to the artist, the paintings were exhibited in other parts of the world and no one raised a howl. I remember a few years ago before the Twin Towers catastrophe, the same kind of art was exhibited in a New York Museum.
US is not a Catholic nation but the petition to stop the exhibit reached us in California.

Pumapatak na naman ang ulan

 Dear insansapinas,

Nakapaschedule din ako ng ride kanina para pick-up in ang aking reading-computer glasses. It costs me an arm and a leg and a nail.

CHEd Memorandum Order No. 34 series of 2010, issued last October 22, 2010, clarified the guidelines for suspension of classes in higher education institutes (HEIs) due to weather disturbances.
Based on the memorandum, classes at the collegiate level, including graduate school, are automatically suspended in HEIs once public storm warning signal number 3 is raised.

However, heads of HEIs have the discretion to cancel classes even if signal number 3 is not yet declared, especially if there are other factors, such as flooding and road damage.

With regard to the late suspension of government work and college classes, Carandang said the Palace needed to evaluate the situation "on a case-to-case basis" and it does not want to disrupt work.
"As much as possible kasi, ayaw natin na magdeklara ng suspension of classes or government work, nadi-disrupt ang flow ng trabaho. Hindi naman pwede basta umulan magsususpindi kaagad, so kailangan talaga natin i-monitor ang sitwasyon at based on our appreciation of kung nahihirapan na ba yung tao, then we make the decision," he said.

Prison

Dear insansapinas,

A dormitory? A room in a house?

No, Virginia, this is a Norway prison cell where the gunman who massacred several people will be spending the rest of his life.

Norway's concept of prison emphasizes on treating the inmates humanely to prepare them for integration in the society when they have finished serving their sentence.

Aircon pag summer at may heater pag winter. Hanubayan.

Money

Dear insansapinas,
Do you know how they buy cars in China. They buy them in cash as in...bulto-bulto.
pic forwarded by bayi,

A friend of mine had a Chinese client who is a millionaire but he's low profile. One day, he asked her to help him buy a brand new car. Being a simple man, he wore cheap clothes that you won't think that he can afford to buy a car. When they were choosing the car he wanted, the man was being ignored by the car sales agent.

After the choice, the agent asked how the payment is going to be made. In cash, said the man. Then he brought out his bayong full of money. The agent almost "picked up" his jaw from the floor.

My friend in Indonesia decided to migrate to the United States. She sold the family's house and lot which also housed her nursery school.

When she came home after the sale, she came home with two suitcases of rupiahs. You can imagine how many rupiahs she needed to convert her currency to dollar. One rupiah is equivalent to .0001 dollar.

Nora Aunor is finally coming, so is John Rendez

 Dear insansapinas,

Mayroon talagang HIMALA.

Actress Nora Aunor boarded Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight 103 at 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, barely beating the 9:50 p.m. check-in deadline. The superstar took dozens of pictures with fans, including PAL employees, before entering the business class lounge.
She is expected to arrive at the Manila International Airport at 3:40 a.m. on Tuesday.
“I'm excited,” said Aunor, who is expected to stay in the Philippines for 3 months before returning to Los Angeles.
The superstar will reportedly do a movie based on the life of Filipino general Emilio Aguinaldo, as well as a television project for a rival network.
