Ang komedyante namang si Ethel Booba ay nagkaroon ng publicity nang tangkain niyang sunugin ang condo na kaniyang inuupahan dahil nalaman niyang gay pala ang kaniyang boyfriend na foreigner.
Pahiramin ng gaydar. 


Hindi na raw kakasuhan basta umalis na lang sa condo. Dito may kaso na yan, sipa pa sa inuupahan.

Kagaya ng naging tenant ko sa San Fran na laging isinisisi ang kaniyang mood swings sa kaniyang pagiging diabetic. Pag nag-aaway sila ng boy friend niya (75 years old na yong matanda, peksman para silang teenager pa kung mag-away, siya naman noon ay 60 na yata, divorced sa asawa at karamihan sa mga anak ay nasa Pilipinas Kay Ganda Koh) sa telepono, magigiba ang dingding namin. How do you know if tsunami is coming

There was one fatality of tsunami in the US that was triggered by the big earthquake in Japan. He waited to photograph the arrival of of the tsunami which was  expected to strike in the US Coastal areas. 


My niece and her family lives in Hawaii where all coastal areas were closed after the tsunami alert. 


My grandma who experienced tsunami (they called it tidal wave) said that they had but a few minutes to tie themselves in the coconut trees before it struck.


What was the sign they saw? The coastal area where they lived was a high risk to tsunami so the American
company which owned the lumber concession built a wall of big timbers along the coastal lines of the island. That day, they saw these timbers which were supposed to be under water. The water had receded.

Five to 10 minutes before it strikes, a tsunami usually gives a powerful warning that's hard to miss from the shore. It's not a rolling wave coming in, but the reverse - all the water in view going out to sea in the most massive and powerful undertow imaginable.  "If you're standing on the beach, the water can recede  all the way out to the horizon," said Brian Yanagi, Hawaii's program specialist for earthquakes and tsunamis. "Our biggest worry is for surfers, swimmers and Boogie  Boarders because that giant undertow starts quickly and moves out at about 30 mph, pulling everything down beneath the surface. Those on the shore have 10 minutes  to reach high ground before the tsunami waves - actually  walls of tumbling water - strike. On April 1, 1946, before a tsunami struck the town of Hilo on the eastern  shore of Hawaii island, the town's entire mile-wide harbor drained into the ocean. "People came rushing down to see what  happened, there were fish flopping around on the ground - and then the wave hit," said Ray Novell, spokesman for Hawaii's Civil Defense Department. More than 150 werekilled in that incident. That first killer wave is just  the beginning of the tsunami. The big damage is caused by the third, fourth or fifth wave, according to Yanagi. An undersea earthquake causes seismic shocks that produce numerous waves, each more powerful than the previous one in the cycle of massive undertows and debris gathered up and into the incoming waves, Yanagi said. A tsunami can last from 30 minutes to 10 hours .

I remember a story I read when I was still pasaway brat. It was about a rich landowner who was regarded to be selfish by the people in the village. He rarely went out and socialized with them. 


One day, they saw the old man on a higher ground level. He was torching the rice which were ripe for harvest. The people thought that the old man became crazy so they went up to him to stop him from burning the whole farm.


The old man pointed to them the ocean. A tsunami struck. It was only then they realized that the old man sacrificed his harvest to save them from the tidal waves that wrecked their village.

Strongest Earthquakes

The earthquake in Japan which happened in March 11 was not the strongest but had a greater impact than that of Chile's earthquake with a magnitude of 9.5  in 1960 and Indonesia's  9.1 in 2004.  Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology said according to preliminary results of a study it conducted that Friday's 8.9-magnitude quake shifted the Earth on its rotation axis by nearly 10 centimetres.

When I was a kid and babysat by my grandparents together with their old friends, I overheard them
talked about the prophecy that the end of the world is near when an earthquake that
measures more than 8 in the richter scale strikes.
These stats have proven them wrong.


The magnitude of an earthquake is described in
intensity.

8 or higher= Great

7-7.9= Major

6-6.9=Strong

5-5.9=Moderate

4-4.9=light

3-3.9=minor

3-2.9=very minor

Chile may have recorded the strongest earthquake at 9.5 in 1960 where 5,000 lives were lost but China suffered the highest number of casualties since the year 1290. An earthquake in 1556 claimed 830,000 while the latest in 1976 killed 255,000 people.

This is also the country that has the most number of strong earthquakes closely followed by Iran.

I would like to write about the controversial AIR, the SALN for private individual taxpayers but early morning, after a night of lack of sleep, the first face I saw in my favorite TV network was that of Steven Seagal. 1. Most influential women in Google- Shalani Soledad, Talo niya si Kris Aquino. May taong masama ang gising na naman niya. I am scratching my head. Why influential when they just want to say is the most searched names in Google, Philippines. Did Shalani influence other women or people?


2. Charlie Sheen, the bad boy of the All media (Parang Queen of All media, di ba may nag-aari na ng title na yan?) is asking for $100 million from the producers of Two and A half Men. Dati gusto ko siya kasi ang daddy niya na si Martin Sheen, pumunta pa sa Pilipinas Kay Ganda Koh para tumulong magtayo ng bahay. Ngayon pangit na siya. At ang producers niya ay hindi lang naman yon ang hit sitcom. Mas gusto ko pa yong The Big Bang Theory--istorya ng mga nerds.


3. Thia Megia - Fil-am finalist in the American Idol. Safe siya pero dapat iboto rin siya ng mga Filipinos
sa mga susunod na Linggo ng competition. Daming mga Latina at marami ring Latino dito sa States.
May k naman si Thia kaysa doon sa ibang singers. Ang natanggal ay yong kasama sa wild card. Talagang ayaw ng tao. 


4. Jobert Sucaldito and John Lapuz-Bakit naman binibigyan ng media mileage ang dalawang ito. Pag mga libel at mga slander, wala na akong pinaniniwalaan diyan. Publicity is the name of the game. Sus.

This news is a bit old but because yesterday was Ash Wednesday which is a start of the Lenten Season, I decided to write something about betrayal and overseas Filipinos.

It is easy for some to advice other people to avoid being stressed. These are people who have never worked in their life time. Their world revolves within their families, their church which are often than not preach the
give-your-left-check-when-they-make-sampal to your right and their communities which comprised of people who believe that smiles are accessories to their faces when they leave their homes.

In the workplace aside from politics, egoistic superiors, there are also instances when the Lenten season is repeatedly played by Judases who are willing to sell their colleagues for higher positions or higher salaries.

But not this Filipino nurse who refused an offer from management in exchange to change his position.

SAN FRANCISCO – Filipino nurse Ron Villanueva said nothing can keep him from telling the truth against his employer, the California Medical Pacific Center or CPMC.
Villanueva, along with two other nurse managers, accused CPMC of discriminating against Filipino applicants, citing in sworn statements that they were told by management not to hire Filipinos because their accent is hard to understand.
Last year, the California Nurses Association, a union which has an ongoing contract dispute with CPMC, filed a class action grievance against the hospital chain.
Villanueva revealed that CPMC CEO Dr. Warren Browner recently met with him, with a proposal, saying, “He actually asked me — ‘Is there anything we can do to change your perception?’ I said no.”
Then came the offer, Villanueva said. He revealed, “He asked me if I was still interested in a management position. I said yes…but not with CPMC.”
He said the meeting did not change his position, that CPMC discriminates against Filipinos. Villlanueva said, “I have to be truthful. That’s the way I want to move forward with it.”
The Filipino Community Center, which supports Villanueva, said this can easily be construed as an attempt to buy off Villanueva with a management position.
CPMC spokesperson Kevin McCormack denied this saying Browner met with Villanueva in good faith.
McCormack added that Browner would never try to buy off Villanueva’s silence, saying, “He has high ethical standards. He’s not going to go in there and offer him a job as some kind of a bribe — and get him to change his story. 

I like to discuss two issues in relation to this news.

1. Being Judas Escariot- I had been betrayed several times by co-employees but at the end of the day, these people were either fired or demoted once the management was through with them. Karma?

A Laguna court has found the three sons of executed overseas Filipino worker Flor Contemplacion guilty of drug peddling and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
In a 14-page decision issued last week, Judge Agripino Morga of the San Pablo City Regional Trial Court Branch 32 convicted Sandrex Contemplacion, 37; and twins Jon-Jon and Joel, 30, for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002.Contemplacion was sentenced to death for the killing of fellow Filipino domestic helper Delia Maga and her three-year-old ward. Ever since she has become the face of OFW mothers who leave their children in the Philippines to seek better employment abroad.
The Contemplacion brothers were arrested in October 2005 during a buy-bust operation for peddling methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) and have since been detained at the San Pablo City Jail.
In 2008, Flor’s widower, Efren Contemplacion, and his live-in partner were also arrested for possession of illegal drugs.

Blame Game

(I took this photo when I was waiting outside the doctor's office in December. It was the only leaf remaining in that bush. Yes, Virginia, it was a leaf not a flower).
Some people blame somebody, anybody, everybody but themselves for wrong decisions made.First with the family; daddy was not there all the time, mommy was verbally abusive, elder siblings were control freaks, cousins were snobs and aunts and uncles were emtionally abusive.Kung masisisi pa nila ang house pets like the dog, the cat and the bird, they will. Fact is they can lay everything at their clan's feet to blame for what persons they have become. But if this is so, they have to go up the family tree and see who were bipolar that left the DNA, who were a mess that life was always in pepertual disorder; who was the suicidal; who was the loner and who was the temperamental. . The whole world for these people would be full of ancestors to blame. 


The only way to move on is to let them go because`it is who you are who will be dealing with the world--the workplace, the relationships, the community. Do not expect that the workplace is heaven, It is not where lasting frienship is formed. Relationships are a bed of roses--beautiful but with a lot of thorns and the community is full of people with egos as big as the monument of Liberty. It is a waste of time to be competing or arguing with them. Masarap lang mang-asar talaga.


Why I am writing this? Wala lang. There are people who do not count their blessings. That is having good health. Habit na nila ang magkasakit para mapansin. If I can exchange my life with them, I would. But I am not blaming anyone for being sick. There are several reasons to leave this world and mine is one of them.

The Mayan prophecy according to its long calendar is that the end of the world is on December 12, 2012. Well there is a group who is predicting that the doomsday is on May 21,2011. This I got to see. Pero paano mo makikita kung magugunaw na ang mundo. Sabi naman nila, may 153 days pa bago mamatay ang lahat ng tao. 

Ito ang story:

They gave away cars, pets, music collections and more to relatives, friends and neighbors. Some items they kicked to the curb. In homes that weren't emptied, clothes are still hanging in closets, and dishes, books and furniture -- including one man's antique collection -- are gathering dust. Unless, of course, they've been claimed by others. If you believe it's all going to be over soon, why would it matter if you close the front door, much less lock it, when you walk away?

In a complaint to the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), Binay’s office said it had learned that on at least three broadcasts on ABS-CBN, its news reader Korina Sanchez did not mention Binay’s name when she referred to the Vice President.

Aside from the rumored Binay's rumor mill:

We think it’s from the Binay camp because the messages either applaud the Vice President’s various programs or defend him against his detractors. Expectedly, when we try to call or text the numbers that sent the messages, nobody answers.

We know of course that spam messages from politicos are nothing new. They are usually common during the election season. But it is years yet till the next elections.

Whoever is sending those messages must have a lot of money to spend. After all, mobile text messages are not free.

My nurse-friend  called yesterday from Arizona to tell me that a Filipino male nurse  was arrested for soliciting six from a fifteen year old girl online.

PHOENIX - Undercover police arrested a Filipino man for soliciting sex with an underage minor.
Phoenix Police arrested 39- year-old oncology nurse Richard Sanggalang in an undercover sex sting in Phoenix on Monday, February 28.
Reports said Sanggalang tried to solicit sex from undercover police– posing as a teenage girl online.Phoenix Police said he chatted online with their decoy. Sanggalang e-mailed photos of his face and his car.

Sanggalang worked as an oncology nurse for 5 years at the banner Estrella Medical Center in Phoenix, which is known to employ a lot of Filipino nurses.

Sa totoo lang nagkakamot kami ng ulo ng kaibigan ko. Wala naman kaming dandruff. Dear insansapinas,

CSI is no longer my favorite. It is now Criminal Minds. I want to become a profiler or an expert behavior analyst when I grow up. Kasi 5'2" lang po akoh.


My PTS yesterday was finished more than an hour earlier so I sat outside  the hospital's patient entrance to wait for my ride.


While waiting, I was also reading the novel Coffin Dancer where Lincoln Rhymes, the criminalist was reviewing the profile of the assassin. I decided to put myself in the shoes of Rhymes. Oops, I forgot, Rhymes is supposed to be quadriplegic.  I thought it was fun to profile the people who were coming and going the hospital.

Male, Caucasian, age may be late 70's; was sitting in a wheelchair; hunched from the shoulders that the chin almost touched the chest; sick; weak and must be convalescing; checking out.


A man driving the old man's car got off from the driver's seat. Pushed the wheelchair to the left side of the car. The man must be a relative or a friend of the old man driving for him. He helped the old man
stand up. Someone got by and shielded the view from where I sat. The wheelchair was wheeled back by the man who drove the car. Where was the old man? Could not find him. 


The car started to move. The man I profiled to be sick and old was driving the car. 


Toinkkk. Ay mali. FAIL.


Second unsub- Daughter ?
Female, Caucasian, must be late 20's; wearing blue jeans and tight fitting blouse top and cashmere jacket.
Pushing the wheelchair of a man who's going to Cancer Center. Wife leading the two. The young lady failed to put the feet of the old man to the footrests of the wheelchair. When they stopped, she did not lock the wheelchair so it would not roll. Must be naive of the caregiver's practices of assisting patients on wheelchair.
Must be the daughter who was assisting the father and was emotionally affected by the father's condition.

Paquito Diaz, 73

Dear insansapinas,

Paquito Diaz whose real name was Francisco Bustillos Diaz  died in March 3 from lingering illness. Considered one of the top villains of movie industry, he was born on May 28, 1937   He got two children who are also in the showbiz, Cheska and Joko Diaz. Romy Diaz, his brother who was also popular as contravida died in 2005.

Paquito Diaz  suffered from  stroke in 2002 and the damily decided to move to his wife's hometown in Daraga, Albay  They sold the house and lot in the city due to mounting hospital bills. His last appearance was at GMA 7's Wish Ko Lang.

I am back from the hospital. Now I know what the doctor's order PST mean. PRE Surgical Test. I will 
undergo a procedure in March 16 and they conducted a test if I am fit enough for the surgery. This test includes blood works to find out kung may dugo pa ako. Kung hindi sasalinan nila ako ng Diet Pepsi.
 Ahek. I was also given an EKG. Tinanong ko kung may puso pa ako, meron pa naman daw.


Pero ang may-ari ng mansion na ito kung sino man siya at kung talagang galing sa corruption ay walang puso. 

Preliminary inquiry reveals that it is owned by a firm associated with the Executive Secretary and the contact person is the wife. But since I believe in the presumption of innocence i.e. proven innocent until guilty. ahek, magOCHO-OCHO Ahh muna tayo. May ganun?

My friend called to tell me that her niece who is a nurse in the Philippines is being charged one thousand pesos a month to work in a hospital. She is given a contract of six months. The hospital justifies the payment as some sort of fee for acquiring nursing skills. Mga buwaya. Two years na siyang nagtatrabaho doon as volunteer without salary, ngayon siya pa ang pagbabayarin. Sandali lang, nasaan ba ang magic wand ko.
Ano yan perpetual on-the-job-training?

Singson reiterated that his son was not a drug user but was forced to admit drug use or risk being given a harsher sentence by the judge for being a drug trafficker.
"You have to prove you are a user or else they will think that the drugs was for profit...Medyo nakatikim siya noong araw pero hindi siya user," he said.
He repeated his claim that a known drug pusher who was on the same flight to Hong Kong had framed Ronald by asking him to carry the drugs. He said the pusher had befriended Ronald for the sole purpose of selling him drugs.
Asked why the congressman would be acquainted with a drug pusher, he said: "Kinakaibigan...para bentahan si Ronald."

The Crying CEO
He is a CEO of the company he founded several years ago. His story is from rags to riches. The father abandoned him and his siblings and the mother raised them singlehandedly.


His business of restoration, fixing and cleaning houses that were damaged by fire, earthquake, typhoon and other calamities grew to be a billion dollar conglomerate. So he enjoyed luxury with lots of pairs of shoes, expensive clothes, jewelries. If he is not meeting with his think tank, he is in the golf course.

Mga bayani raw ang OFW dahil malaki ang naitulong ng kanilang remittance sa economy ng bansa. Dahil sa OFW, lumago ang real estate business, ang domestic  tourism at ang mall ay nagkalat na kahit sa kalibliban ng mga probins kung saan may kamag-anak ang mga OFW na ito. Nakatulong din ang kanilang dollar remittances sa balance of payments ng bansa.  Pero ang mga OFW ay mga bayaning walang bantayog. Charing lang sa kanila ng gobyerno ang tawag na bayani.


Maraming tao ang tawag sa kanila mga traidor dahil iniwan ang bansa. Maraming tao nagsasabing wala silang makuhang trabaho sa Pilipinas kay Gandah ko (short to saying, wala kayong K dahil hindi kayo graduate sa mga exclusive schools, o wala kayong pinag-aralan) kaya sila umalis.


Ginagamit silang sa mga trade pacts sa ibang foreign governments. Kapalit ng mababang suweldo, sila ay kinocommit ng gobyerno sa ibang bansa kapalit ng mga elimination ng tariffs, quota and trade restrictions.


Kapag may problema ang mga gobyerno sa diplomatic relations, sila ang napagbubuntunan. Para bang nag-away ang dalawang tao na hindi magkaumbagan, yong hindi makareklamo ang inuumbag nila. Hello Taiwan.


At ngayon, kailangan ng libo-libong OFWs sa Libya ang makabalik sa Pilipinas Kay Ganda Koh. Marami sa kanila ang kusang nagcross ng borders. 

The foreign ministry said 1,877 of the 26,000 Filipinos in Libya had so far escaped, although most of those who initially fled did so with the aid of their employers and not the government.
