Lotto, Lottery, Luto?

Dear insansapinas,

At last there was already a winner for the much coveted 700 million plus lotto in the Philippines. Would there be a public presentation of the winner (photoop) receiving a big facsimile  of a check?

Dito kasi noon pag ganiyang malalaki, maraming winners kasi people pooled their money and bought as many number combinations as possible. Kasama ako diyan noon sa isang opisina. We're given the photocopies  of the lotto tickets so we can check if we won. Sometimes we won several numbers so we used the winnings to buy another set of tickets...until the person responsible for the buying "disappeared." No we did not win a big sum of money but considering lots of tickets bought, malaki na sa kaniya yon. Leechzee, pinagpalit yong trabaho niya sa maliit na pera na would last only for a few months.

Then one Filipino family won the lotto. Voila, instant millionaires.

Hindi ko alam kung they lived happily ever after kasi baka ang pinili nila ay yong monthly checks at hindi yong cash.

Lottery meron. Yong may catchphrase na, the Quitter Never wins, the Winner Never Quits sweepstakes.

Beating the Odds.

Do you remember your first job?

Dear insansapinas,

Aside from that, kailangan pa niyang kumuha ng mga additional subjects, Six years ang Pharmacy degree dito.

Kailangan pa niyang mag-on the job training.

The more years of experience, the MANIER. (ploink).

Wala akong sinabing ginawa ko. he he he he (ngising aso).

PPP

Dear insansapinas,

In the meantime, ito yong bouquet of flowers ko.

Call it by any name, ganoon pa rin.

Weighted AVERAGE Cost of Capital na sinasabi. Halimbawa ang cost of debt nila o interest na binabayaran nila sa kanilang mga Long term loan; ang cost of capital na dividends binabayad sa mga stockholders. Pag sinuma total (divided by) klink klink klink (sound ng abacus)  ito na halimbawa a 10 per cent kailangan ang rate of return ng kanilang project ay mas mataas sa 10 per cent.

Huling Kabit-Magapatuka na lang ako sa ahas

Dear insansapinas,

(sorry, the wine sucks).

TAPOS MAY BIGLANG SABI PAAAAARAH, sasakay ako. Si Yolly Ong. Yolly Ong Who? Siya ang behind the Campaigns and Grey. SO?

Sus. Yon kasi ang sabi niya.

Right after the DOT event, a dyed-in-the-wool ex-cabinet member of the past regime called to “console” and probe me about the controversy. I immediately knew that the Gruesome Malicious Army will seize this golden opportunity to wreak havoc on the new, popular government. I was needled: Do I still support this “incompetent, weak and indecisive leader”? You mean will I always be on the side of an honest and incorruptible President? Absolutely YES! But my antenna was up. I knew a tidal wave of malevolence was about to hit.
  2. Sabi niya, What makes this so nauseating? First, the information is fundamentally wrong. Enteng has no son.

Wala nga siyang son, meron naman siyang daughter. Inamin pa niya.

4. Sabi niya:

Last year, there were 3M+ tourists. Twenty-six percent were North Americans (60 percent of whom are FilAms), followed by the Koreans (20 percent), Chinese (13 percent) and Japanese (9 percent). Forty-two percent don’t speak English and couldn’t care less if the themeline was written in Aramaic.

Eh gamit last year Wow Philippines pa eh. hello, knock, knock, knock. O dava?

GDP and Budget

Dear insansapinas,
In case you do not notice, our economy slowed in growth during the honeymoon stage of the new administration dahil tayo ay nasa sidetracked ng mga balita tungkol sa nabasted o nagbreak na hindi-naman-daw-sila-showbiz-pero-panay-din-naman-ang-salita-ng-kapatid-na ang -pangalan -ay-hindi-Kris.

MANILA, Philippines—Growth of the Philippine economy slowed to 6.5 percent in the July-September period from that of the previous year as government spending eased while the country’s agriculture output declined due to the El Niño weather disturbance.
Si Carandang mismo ang nagsabi na for the first two semesters, (yon ay bago sila naupo sa Malacanan, ang growth rate at7.9 percent in the second quarter and 7.8 percent in the first.semester.

Then dumating ang July at September. Bagsak siya. Aray.

 SUC budget cuts;

Duh.

Sapatos, damit, pagkain, laruan at pagkain. So erase ninyo siya.

So para bang bawas dito, dagdag doon.

A Commission on Higher Education (CHED) official said Friday that it has asked the Department of Budget Management (DBM) to be allowed to tap the P2 billion Higher Education Development Fund (HEDF) to augment the slashed budget of state universities and colleges (SUCs).

Conditional Cash Transfer

Dear insansapinas,

What's the conditional cash tansfer?

LEECHzee.

Bakit? Thanksgiving

Dear insansapinas,

Part of me wants to stay in bed and read a book. Part of me wants to sit in my computer chair and write but the phone kept on ringing. There are moments when I like to lie down in  fetal position and just dream away.(uber bang dramatic?)
A photo on Flickr

Today is thanksgiving day. I would like  to thank  my stylist who takes care of my hair, fixes my clothes and removes lint in my shirt.

I have so many blessings to thank for.

Bossing: Kasi may isa pang pinag-aaral ka. Eh alam kong kukulitin mo ako.
Me: Bakit di mo pa ako kinuha noong 3 years ago?
Bossing: kasi marami ka pang emotional baggage noon.
Me: Ngayon ba wala na?
Noon, isang malaking suitcase.

Liz Uy and Copyright

Dear insansapinas,

Ows.

Pardon the Turkey

Dear insansapinas,

Palagay ko marami sa atin ang hindi nakakaalam why is there such a thing as pardoning the turkey during Thanksgiving Day sa US of A. Ako rin hindi ko alam sa totoo lang.

Kaya naggogoogle ako. Ito ang sinasabi sa wikipedia
The origins of the tradition of pardoning the White House turkey are unclear. Many credit PresidentHarry Truman with starting the informal and lighthearted tradition in 1947. However, the Truman Library says that no documents, speeches, newspaper clippings, photographs or other contemporary records are known to exist that specify that he ever "pardoned" a turkey.

Toinkkk
“We recognize the fact that we’re all human beings and things made by human beings can be improved,” Aquino said, virtually admitting that his legal advisers made mistakes in drafting Proclamation No. 50 and that amendments will now have to be made to the directive. Or, sorry, tao lang, as they say

Flowers and a Kiss

Dear insansapinas,
Naku ha, intriga.

I wrote one time that a sales associate in a grocery store was suspended when she seized my debit card and swiped it in the machine when I was still asking her about the wrong amount in the receipt.

I did not ask the manager to suspend her. But her supervisor saw the incident. I know that these people are earning only a few dollars over minimum and suspending them would deprive them of hundreds of unworked time.

She's back but she is friendlier,  especially to me.
Yesterday, I went to the store  to buy my favorite drink, coco water and King crab. (para makakain ako. I thought it would give me appetite). I also picked up a bouquet of flowers.

Many people have the impression that I am one strong willed, stubborn   (hindi babae daw) walang puso and stoic earthling . Wrong impression. If ever there is something that would make me melt like ice cream (na wala na rin akong ganang kumain) is a bouquet of flowers. ( My house in SF was full of flowers, silk and real. My friend and I used to go to the flea market just to buy big bunch of sunflowers. My house in the Philippines was like a jungle with ornamental plants and flowers. Salbaheng bata).

Back to my kwento. The sales associate  saw the flowers along with the grocery items . I told her that I am trying to "bribe"  GOD to hear my prayers. She smiled then she kissed me. The supervisor  must have told her that I have health issues because I showed her my medical alert bracelet in case of emergency.

My romance with flowers did not come from a lover. Toink toink.

It was when I was already a single parent and raising two kids when I realized the pressure of earning enough money to send them to school.

A young woman who looked older than her age approached me while I was about to step out of my house. She offered me flowers. I bought some sa awa. Mukhang hindi pa kumain. The next day, she was there again, waiting for me. Marami pala siyang anak at iniwan ng asawa.

So everyday, dinadalhan niya ako ng bulaklak. Sabi noong yaya niya, may nililigawan daw. Talagang salbaheng bata.

Salbaheng bata talaga. yuk yuk yuk.

White People For Rent

Dear insansapinas,

http://www.cnn.com/2010/BUSINESS/06/29/china.rent.white.people/index.html?iref=obnetwork

Beijing, China (CNN) -- In China, white people can be rented.
For a day, a weekend, a week, up to even a month or two, Chinese companies are willing to pay high prices for fair-faced foreigners to join them as fake employees or business partners.
Some call it "White Guy Window Dressing." To others, it's known as the "White Guy in a Tie" events, "The Token White Guy Gig," or, simply, a "Face Job."
And it is, essentially, all about the age-old Chinese concept of face. To have a few foreigners hanging around means a company has prestige, money and the increasingly crucial connections -- real or not -- to businesses abroad.
"Face, we say in China, is more important than life itself," said Zhang Haihua, author of "Think Like Chinese." "Because Western countries are so developed, people think they are more well off, so people think that if a company can hire foreigners, it must have a lot of money and have very important connections overseas. So when they really want to impress someone, they may roll out a foreigner."
Or rent one.
Last year, Jonathan Zatkin, an American actor who lives in Beijing, posed as the vice president of an Italian jewelry company that had, allegedly, been in a partnership with a Chinese jewelry chain for a decade.
Zatkin was paid 2,000 yuan (about $300) to fly, along with a couple of Russian models, to a small city in the central province of Henan where he delivered a speech for the grand opening ceremony of a jewelry store there.

Enteng Romano DoT Usec resigns

Dear insansapinas,

MANILA, Philippines (3rd UPDATE) – Department of Tourism (DOT) Undersecretary Vicente Romano resigned Tuesday over the botched “Pilipinas Kay Ganda” branding campaign.
He admitted that he was the one responsible for the controversial branding scheme.
President Benigno Aquino III immediately accepted the resignation of Romano.
In a statement, Malacañang said it was honorable of Romano to offer his resignation, and the president respects his decision. Last Saturday, Aquino ordered the "Pilipinas Kay Ganda" campaign shelved after it was marred by allegations of plagiarism and other issues.
Ang hindi ko maintindihan ay ito:

Lim, meanwhile, said he was surprised with the amount spent.
He said he was overseas while the event was being held.
"Talagang over sya sa authorized budget. Nalaman ko na lang nung prinesent ang voucher," he said.
Eh sino ito?

launching of DoT slogan

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

Dear insansapinas,

One way mirror

two way mirror

A Mirror or a 2-Way Glass?

How can you tell when you are in a room, restroom,
motel etc. with a mirror or a 2-way glass?

Here's how: I thought it was quite interesting! And I
know in about 30 seconds you're going to do what I did
and find the nearest mirror.

Christmas Shopping sa Pilipinas at Black Friday sa US

Dear insansapinas,

The Green Mile

Dear insansapinas,

By that time sabi niya wala ng pupunta sa kaniyang memorial. Pagkatapos magtatawanan kami.

The Rich want more, more and more.

 Dear insansapinas,

After my vacation in the Philippines last January, I finished a book on Financial Management. No it was not plagiarized. This is not my first time to write a book. Research is my second vice. I taught the subject in the university and I practised it in the industry both in the Philippines and the US.

I was comissioned by a friend to write three.  No contract, no agreement. I trusted her. I finished only one. Hindi na kaya ng health ko.

Before I sent her the manuscript, she asked for a favor. It is not about money. It is accommodation of her protege to a university where she thinks I still have the clout. I realized, she really did not know me. I don't use my influence, not even for an immediate relative.  My tsikiting gubats knew that when they applied to the university. They had to do it on their own even when I could make a call to some influential friends.

The dean e-mailed me. She said that the lady tried to persuade her to ignore the grades and the eligibility rules. The dean was my protege. She knew I would not violate policies which I adopted and strongly  enforced during my time. She was just a new faculty member then. She refused the request.

After finishing the draft, I zipped it to her. No response if she received it via e-mail. I called her over the phone. She did not call back. After several e-mails, she responded. She said she got it. Just like that.

Then no news. I asked our common friends what happened to her? They offered to follow up for me. I dissuaded them. May hinala na ako.

One of my tsikiting gubats asked me what if she publishes it without my credit. The first time he asked, I told him that she is too rich  to be interested in such a project.

The second time, he asked, I told him that sometimes rich people want more, and more and more.

Look at those who are in the top list of the richest men in the Philippines. How can they enjoy the competition as to who is the richest  when their employees earn salaries which could hardly put food on their tables? Mas gusto pa nilang i-outsource ang iba nilang operation rather than provide employment to people who are in dire need of paychecks every end of the month just because the business would like to cut corners. Yon bang pati yong kanto, aalisin nila. acheche.

I am not writing this because I am angry with that friend of mine. I have the corrections as well as the answers to the problems at the back of each chapter. Well, I admit  that would not deter her from publishing it because she can easily provide those easily.

My favorite dean offered to adopt the book in their university should I publish it. I declined. I do not need the stress and aggravations.  Even if my time in the world is extended, I do not want to pursue it anymore. It is not in my bucket list. Trusting people is not exactly news about me.  I have always been trusting  people because I think I am also trustworthy. In other words, madali akong lokohin. mwehehe.

Actually, this blog was inspired by this article. Prrrrst.

Ang titulo ko dito ay mga GANID.

A Friend in a Dream

Dear insansapinas,
Last night, I dreamed of my friend. He was the one I agreed with that whoever would be the first to die will come back and visit the living one. That was the time when he was watching the movie Ghost together with my tsikiting gubats in our living room. He was our neighbor and I am the ninang of his firstborn. He became my bodyguard when I was working in an MNC. He died of cancer too when I was already in the United States. Before I left he asked me where do I think he's going if he dies. I did not know that he was already diagnosed with the big C. I wrote in my blog that he visited me  a few months after he died as per our agreement.

He "visited" me also when I was first diagnosed with the big C. He told me that "masama akong damo". It was not yet my time.

Last night, I dreamed of him. He was doing my assignment. Clipping news items and pasting them in a bond paper. Then he waited for me and drove me to a party. Ang seksi ko raw. Walang kokontra. Kahit panaginip ko man lang magpantasya ako. bwahaha.

Masyadong Madrama

Dear insansapinas,

Akala ko ako lang ang madrama. Para bang yong. Haah?

As usual may alak pa rin.

Yuck.

“Perhaps ... we need no longer fine-tune the program but look for something more appropriate,” Mr. Aquino told reporters.

Dancing With the Stars, Boy Abunda and Prince Charles

Dear insansapinas,
Dancing with the Stars
As if shooting a TV set is not enough for a viewer to show his disgust for the Bristol Palin's way of dancing. The people are attributing the popular votes to the social media machinery of the mother Sarah Palin who is planning to run as President.

Before the reality dance Finals this coming Monday,  someone sent  a letter with white powder in it.

LOS ANGELES - A white powder in an envelope with a threatening letter delivered to the "Dancing With the Stars" production office at CBS Studios in Los Angeles was determined to be talcum powder.

Politics and showbiz in Dancing with the Stars. Arghhh.

Boy Abunda and his lifetime partner

Abunda's partner, Quintana who was formerly stage director was appointed Assistant VP of PAGCOR.

Conflict of interest?
But PAGCOR management said it hired Quintana and gave him the high post since his shows boosted casino revenues during his time with them. Competent, hardworking and honest were the words PAGCOR management used to heap praises on them.
Reached by text message as he is currently on official business trip in the US, PAGCOR Chief Executive Officer Cristino Naguiat Jr. said it was Quintana's competence that got him the job and not connections.
PAGCOR quickly refuted questions that Abunda or Kris lobbied for Quintana's appointment. Quintana is an appointee of Naguiat, and not a direct appointee of President Aquino.
OWS?

Sabi nga ni Dean Edna Co ng UP College of Public Administration and Governance:
While there is nothing illegal about the appointment, Quintana should have declined out of delicadeza.

DOT logo and slogan - No Market Research has been conducted

Dear insansapinas,

TSEH.

Market research is for discovering what people want, need, or believe. It can also involve discovering how they act. Once that research is completed, it can be used to determine how to market your product.
source: wikipedia
Ano ang ginagawa sa research? Test marketing muna. Anong concept ba ang binebenta?
May impact ba? Naiintindihan ba ng target market? Alin ba ang target market? May recall ba? May recognition ba?

Advertising agency Campaigns & Grey stressed that the now-controversial "Pilipinas Kay Ganda" tourism campaign was still being tested and that they had cautioned the tourism agency against prematurely launching it. "We repeatedly warned the client (Department of Tourism) that it was premature to launch, or even preview the study," Campaigns & Grey said in a statement on Friday.
Apparently, the concept "Pilipinas Kay Ganda" was "developed as one of 5 concepts" still to be tested among target market segments.

The Meaning of GANDA -DOT Researchers take note

Dear insansapinas,

Gusto ba ninyong matawag na GANDA BABAE o GANDA LALAKI? o GANDA PILIPINAS. Think again.

Nagalit si Sec. Alberto Lim. ITO ANG SABI NIYA:

He also took a dig at critics, who he said are claiming to be more knowledgeable than the "researchers" who coined the slogan.

"
(If people reject it because they think they know more than the researchers do, we will back off)," he said, adding that the slogan was a product of “research."

Lim said they had planned to make "ganda (beautiful)" a household word just like "Sayonara" (Japan) and "Aloha" (Hawaii).

The Meaning of Ganda
source: http://www.echarcha.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23866
Gujju - Ganda - Crazy
Hindi - Ganda - Me ( Dirty)
Hyderabadi - Ganda - Assses . ( Main teri ganda marneko aaya hai )
Another meaning of Ganda -

The leopard, the lion, and the eagle are the totems of royalty of

the Buganda kingdom. According to most sources, the identity of the Ganda people was focused on the king, the Kabaka, to the extent that Ganda society cannot be imagined without that institution.

Ganda may also refer to:
  • Ganda, Tibet, China
  • Ganda, the root word in Buganda, a kingdom of Uganda
    • Luganda language, spoken in Uganda
  • Ganda Sirait, one of the big ethnic groups in Indonesia
  • Ganda, Angola
  • Ganda, the ancient Latin name of Ghent, a city in Belgium

Power of Attorney, Notary Public at si Anthony Zuiker

Dear insansapinas,

Anthony Zuiker who? Wala akong ganang magbasa ngayon.

Copy Cats of Logo - Nakakalokah

The latest criticism--and accusation--making the rounds of social networking sites on the Internet is that the "Pilipinas Kay Ganda" logo was lifted from Poland's own tourism campaign, Polska. NAKAKALOKAH TALAGA.

HANAPIN ANG MAGKATULAD.

Tourism logos 1
tourism logo 2
Wala silang kopyahan. Bawa't isa unique. Pero sandali may kapareho raw ang Pilipinas.
Magkapareho ba talaga?

Ito ikumpara natin:
Pagkapareho:
Aghh.
3. Wala silang tarsier. Meron sila, snail, insects atiba
4. Walang sun. Kasi meron sila snow.
5. Meron silang bundok sa logo. Tayo deforested na kseh. agh

Dancing with the Stars Semi-Finals Elimination Sucks

Dear insansapinas,

Gumagawa ako ng will kagabi. Ploinkkk.

Well, popularity contest naman kasi but at the same time, dapat magaling din ang manalo.

Treatment Mistakes in Hospitals

 Dear insansapinas,

One in every seven hospitalized Medicare patients are harmed by treatment mistakes,  according to new analysis by the Department of Health & Human Services released Tuesday.
The report cites a variety of "adverse events" or causes for treatment errors, including excessive bleeding after surgery, urinary tract infections linked to catheters and incorrect medications.

Sus.

Researchers estimate that these types of adverse events contribute to 15,000 deaths per month or 180,000 deaths each year, according to the report.
Some patient-rights groups are calling these findings alarming.
"The country is in a patient safety crisis," said David Arkush, the director of Public Citizen's Congress Watch Division in a statement. "The only workable solution to preventing unnecessary deaths and injuries is to combine much more patient-protective hospital protocols with much better scrutiny by hospitals of physicians and other health care providers, and to appropriately discipline those whose performance results in preventable patient harm."
The American Hospital Association, which represents 5,000 hospitals in the United States, said it is committed to improvement.
"While hospitals have made great strides in improving care, this report highlights that there is more we can do," Rich Umbdenstock, President and CEO of the American Hospital Association, told CNN in a statement. "Hospitals are already engaged in important projects designed to improve patient care in many of the areas mentioned in the report.  We are committed to taking additional needed steps to improve patient care."
For patients concerned about harmful mistakes in the hospital, here's a few tips to help you stay safe.
 1. Bring someone with you to the hospital
Having an advocate at your side who can help insure that your concerns won't go unheard during a hospital stay.
2. Know your medications
Get a daily list of all the medications you're taking and their dosages. When the hospital staffer comes to give you your medicine, make sure what he's giving you matches your list.

1. Uniquely Singapore
2. Amazing Thailand
3. Pure New Zealand
4. So Where the Bloody Hell Are You (Australia)
5. Malaysia, Truly Asia
6. Seoul, Soul of Asia
7. Incredible India
8. Naturally Nepal
9. Taiwan, Touch Your Heart
10.Cool Japan
at ang Pilipinas. TADAAAAAA.

TOINKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

photocredit: Awesome planet
Where in the hell is Pilipinas, a foreigner may ask. Sus. Ang huwag ninyong sasabihing nationalistic kayo kaya gusto ninyo Tagalog ang gamitin. Puwede bah, pakiplantsa ang kilay ko.

Ang meaning daw ng logo:

A cute tarsier, a marsupial endemic to the country, highlights our unique and playful character.

Ikulong mo sila at magpapakamatay sila.

TSEH.
